The two new conditions for issuing a immigrant spouse visas F-6 to foreigners in Korea
Korean Ministry of Justice revealed the two new conditions on issuance of immigrant spouse visas F-6 to foreigners in Korea effective from 1 April 2014 includes:
- Foreigners want to apply for issuance of a resident by F-6 spouse visas in Korea should pass a government-approved Korean language proficiency test (TOPIK) or certification of complete a Korean language training.
- For Korean citizens want to invite their foreign spouses to reside in Korea, the citizents will need to earn an income of 2 people family at least 14.8 million Won a year (about $ 14,000).
The exceptional cases for issuing a immigrant spouse visas F-6 to foreigners in Korea:
- A couple can opt out of the language requirement if they show they communicate in a different tongue or
- They have any children,
Korean Ministry of Justice tightened the rules in order to avoid the phenomenon of foreigner which becomes Korean resident after getting married with Korean, then divorced and invited his new wife/husband being a foreigner to reside in Korea.
Another reason for the tightening of visa procedures due to the occurrence of violence on the part of the multicultural family when a couple have not enough time to know each other, and to eliminate the new matchmaking services with the Korean people in the Southeast Asian country, which is seen as a disguised form of human trafficking.
TOPIK is organized only twice a year in Vietnam. You need to learn a lot to pass the test, and if you fail, you will have to wait for half a year.
