The carrying of gold by individuals upon entry into and exit from the Vietnam

State Bank of Vietnam has issued Circular No.11/2014/TT-NHNN dated 28 March 2014 regulating the carrying of gold by individuals upon entry into and exit from the Vietnam.

The carrying of gold by individuals upon entry into and exit from the Vietnam

1. Carrying of gold by individuals upon entry into and exit from the Vietnam

 -Vietnamese and foreign individuals, upon entry into and exit from Vietnam with passports, shall be not entitled to carry gold bars and raw material gold.
If foreign individuals carried gold bars and raw material gold upon entry into Vietnam, they must deposit in the customs store for carrying out upon their exit or for sending abroad at their expenses for all related costs.

 - Vietnamese and foreign individuals carrying jewellery gold and art gold of total weight of from 300 (three hundred) grams upward, upon entry into and exit from Vietnam with passports shall be subject to the customs declaration.

2. Carrying gold by individuals upon entry into and exit from the Vietnam in case of resettlement

 a. Foreign individuals who are permitted to settle in Vietnam carrying jewellery gold, art gold, gold plate, material gold of weight of from 300 (three hundred) grams upward upon their entry into Vietnam, shall be subject to the customs declaration.

 b. Vietnamese individuals who are permitted to settle in foreign countries carrying gold (jewellery gold, art gold, gold plate, material gold) as follows:

 - Total weight of from 300 (three hundred) grams upward but less than 01kg (one kilogram) shall be subject to the customs declaration.
 - Total weight of from 01kg (one kilogram) upward shall need a permit issued by the State Bank branches where they reside and shall be subject to the customs declaration.
